New Online Course Provides Fundamental Urology Education for Healthcare Professionals

SUNA has developed a new educational program for healthcare professionals who may need a review of urology fundamentals, including common urologic conditions and procedures, to enhance patient care. Presented by experts in urologic care, Fundamentals of Urology is a self-paced, online course that offers 4.0 contact hours and covers the following topics:

  • Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs)
  • Interstitial Cystitis
  • Management of Incontinence
  • Tips for Implementing Toileting in Older Adults: Body Worn Absorptive Products
  • New Technologies for Containing Urine
  • External Urine Collection Suction Devices
  • Management of Chronic Indwelling Urinary Catheters
  • Intermittent Catheterization
  • Bladder Irrigation
  • Bladder Management following Indwelling Urinary Catheter Removal

The course can be used to enhance knowledge of urology fundamentals for non-urology nurses or as an orientation tool for nurses new to the urology specialty. The standard fee for the course is $150. SUNA members receive a $25 discount.
