Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19): Information & Resources

The Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) has been monitoring an outbreak of respiratory illness caused by a new coronavirus that was first detected in Wuhan City, Hubei Province, China, in December 2019. Infections with the novel corornavirus also have been reported in international locations, including the United States. On January 30, 2020, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the outbreak a public health emergency of international concern. On January 31, 2020, Health & Human Services (HHS) Secretary Azar declared a public health emergency for the entire United States to aid the nation’s health care community in responding to the 2019 novel coronavirus. On February 11, 2020, WHO announced an official name for the disease causing the novel coronavirus outbreak: COVID-19.
